Accessibility Statement

Chen Haim Bachar, Karnaf Studio, is committed to making https://chenbachar.art (the “Site”) accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Art should be open to everyone, and we have built the Site with that in mind.

1. Standard we follow

The Site is designed to comply with Israeli Standard IS 5568 (Web Content Accessibility) at Level AA, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA of the W3C. This is the standard required under the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 5773-2013, and we apply it as a small personal portfolio site.

2. What we have done

The following measures have been implemented across the Site:

  1. Semantic HTML. Pages use proper headings, landmarks, lists and buttons so that screen readers can understand the structure and users can jump between sections.
  2. Keyboard navigation. All menus, galleries, forms, share buttons and the cookie banner can be operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order. A “skip to content” link is available at the top of each page.
  3. Visible focus. The element that currently has keyboard focus is clearly highlighted.
  4. Alternative text. Every artwork image has descriptive alt text stating the title, medium and a short description of the work, so visitors who cannot see the image can still understand what is shown.
  5. Colour contrast. Text and interactive elements meet the AA contrast ratio (at least 4.5:1 for regular text and 3:1 for large text). Information is never conveyed by colour alone.
  6. Right-to-left Hebrew. The Hebrew version of the Site is fully laid out for RTL reading, with correct language tags so assistive technologies use the right pronunciation.
  7. Responsive design. The Site adapts to phones, tablets and desktops and remains usable when zoomed to 200% or more.
  8. Forms. Every form field has a visible label, clear instructions and error messages that are announced to screen readers.
  9. Video captions. Painting-lesson videos have captions where available, and new videos are published with captions.
  10. Motion and time limits. The Site does not use auto-playing video with sound, flashing content or time limits.

3. Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site may not be fully accessible:

  • Older video content. Some older painting-lesson videos may not yet have captions or transcripts. We are adding captions gradually and will prioritise any video you ask us about.
  • Third-party embeds. Videos are embedded from YouTube and social feeds from Instagram and Facebook. The players and feeds are provided by Google and Meta and are outside our control. Their accessibility depends on those companies. Where an embed is not accessible to you, please contact us and we will provide the same content in another form (for example, a direct link, a description or an image list).
  • Etsy shop. Print purchases take place on Etsy, an external site with its own accessibility practices.
  • Artwork detail. Alt text describes each artwork but cannot convey every visual nuance of a painting. On request we are happy to provide a longer verbal description of any work.

4. Accessibility coordinator

Under Israeli regulations, we have appointed an accessibility coordinator who is responsible for handling accessibility requests and issues:

5. How to report an accessibility problem

If you encounter difficulty using any part of the Site, or need content in a different format, please contact the accessibility coordinator by email or phone. To help us respond quickly, please include:

  • The address (URL) of the page.
  • A description of the problem.
  • The device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

We will acknowledge your message and respond within 7 business days. If the problem can be fixed, we will do so as soon as possible and let you know; if it cannot be fixed immediately, we will offer an alternative way to access the content.

6. Physical services

The Site is an online portfolio only. Meetings to view original artworks are arranged individually; please tell us about any accessibility needs in advance and we will do our best to accommodate them.

7. Compatibility

The Site is tested with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with common screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver). It should work with browser zoom, high-contrast modes and operating-system accessibility settings.

8. Review of this statement

This statement was prepared in September 2026. We review it at least once a year, and whenever significant changes are made to the Site. The date at the top shows the latest review.
